Choosing a wedding ceremony and reception venue is arguably one of the most important decisions you will make leading up to your big day. Often, the location of your wedding determines your wedding’s look, feel, and theme, and whether your guests will talk about it for years to come.

If you’re in the market for ideas on a unique wedding venue in Chicago, look no further. Emil Bach House might just be the perfect place for your unforgettable day. Here are the best reasons to consider this unique venue:

Historic Home: Emil Bach House was designed and built by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1915, and 100 years later it has been faithfully restored to its original splendor. Throughout the home, you’ll see the materials, color schemes, and geometrical forms associated with Wright’s early Prairie work. Each of Wright’s homes are intentionally crafted in the distinct American style of architecture he perfected. The home echoes simplicity and beauty making it more than a perfect wedding backdrop – it’s an overall experience.

Location: Overlooking a long stretch of Chicago’s famous Sheridan Road, Emil Bach House offers an enviable setting. Less than 10 miles from the heart of Chicago, you and your guests can take some time to explore the other luxuries the city has to offer. Acclaimed museums, shopping along the famed Magnificent Mile, and enjoying the skyline view on Lake Michigan are all at your fingertips.

Japanese Tea House & Gardens: Located directly behind Emil Bach House, our elegant Japanese Tea House and gardens offer a picture-perfect indoor/outdoor setting. The Tea House is a tribute to Wright’s use of Japanese influences in his later designs. From May through October, we include a large tent in the yard next to the Tea House for your ceremony and/or reception, with a capacity of up to 120 people.

Space: Inside the home, the first floor includes a large gathering space with a dining room and living room area, fireplace, full kitchen, and screened-in porch. The second floor features a study and two guest rooms, along with two full-sized bathrooms. Emil Bach House’s multi-levels and Wright’s purposefully designed journey through the home provide the perfect space for your wedding party to move around and unwind before the ceremony and festivities commence.

One of the most unique aspects of this home for your wedding is the outdoor tented venue plus lodging! Emil Bach House sleeps up to six people in three private, unique, and comfortable bedrooms.

Custom Packages: We understand that every couple has a different vision for their wedding day and that each unique event comes with a set of unique needs. We will happily work with you to create a custom, affordable wedding package that suits your big idea.

Many of our wedding couples rent Emil Bach House and its neighbor next door, Lang House Chicago for their special weekend. Lang House Chicago features two outdoor decks and additional event space for your guests to enjoy. In addition, combining both homes will provide you with nine private bedrooms with private bathrooms, and additional beds to accommodate up to 16 – 20 people!
